Lophophora koehresii var. San Francisco: The Black Sheep

Lophophora sold as ‘Koehresii San Francisco’ is a compact, spineless cactus with pronounced ribs. The locality and horticultural name are useful identifiers for the offered plant, but its botanical classification needs review: Kew currently places “koehresii” under Lophophora diffusa rather than accepting L. koehresii as a separate species. I would keep the seller’s label visible while confirming the provenance and name before changing the listing title. The plant itself has chosen the practical approach: grow low, look unusual, and let taxonomists hold the meeting. It will not be attending.
