Fockea edulis

Fockea edulis is a southern African caudiciform vine with a swollen storage base and slender climbing growth. The downstairs department saves resources; the upstairs department improvises. Its small leaves and wandering stems make the exposed caudex look even more improbable, like a stone that got tired of sitting still. Fockea belongs to the dogbane family, so its vine habit is a genuine part of the plant rather than a decorative afterthought. In cultivation, the caudex may be displayed above the pot for its shape. It has the organizational chart of a very strange company.
