Agave Utahensis var. Eborispina - Seed Grown

Agave utahensis var. eborispina is a seed-grown rosette succulent with stiff leaves and long, pale terminal spines. It begins small, then spends years refining the exact angle at which to threaten a sleeve. Agaves store water in their fleshy leaves, and the terminal spine is part of the leaf rather than a separate accessory. The name eborispina refers to an ivory-spined form, although individual seedlings can vary in colour and spine shape. This is a plant to admire with your eyes before you introduce your hands. It has made its boundaries unusually clear.
